SUMMARY

When you first create a table in Word, the table width fits exactly between the margins. However, if you change the margin settings, the table does not automatically resize to fit the new settings.

This article explains how to make the table conform to the new margins.

Adjust the Table Width

To adjust the table width after you change the margins, follow these steps:
  1. On the Table menu, point to Select, and then click Table.
  2. On the Table menu, point to AutoFit, and then click AutoFit to Window. The width of the table now matches the width of the typing area.
